Set Building (Mr. Malerbi)
Like to swing a hammer or use power tools? Want to learn HOW to use them? Like doing things with your hands and watching what you make go to great use? Set building could be your thing. Set Design/Painting () Are you an ideas person? Can you make something starting with a blank piece of paper? Do you like decorating? Are you good with colors and/or a paint brush? Set Design and/or painting can be for you. Design is concept orientated and works closely Mr. Doherty. Painting takes the ideas and makes them a reality. This is for the artist within. Backstage () Once the sets are done and painted, backstage crew starts their work. Responsible for the set up and moving of all the set pieces. Without you, no show runs smoothly. Lights () The light crew not only runs the lights during the show (which is more than on or off), but they design and set up everything needed. This sometimes includes special effects and design and the use of spotlights. |
Make-Up ()
Enjoy applying your own make-up? Well, this is different. Stage make up is quite different from everyday 'street' make up. The make-up crew is responsible for make-up for the men AND women of all the shows. Sometimes, we even have to design old age make-up, special effects or tattoos! Costumes () This involves artistic concept, shopping, designing, altering, dressing -- and so much more for all the actors. Props () Every little thing that the actors use on stage have to come from somewhere! Our wonderful props crew is responsible for so many things: buying, hunting, sorting, creating all the things we need. Sometimes, it even involves cooking! In addition to getting everything physically ready, the "prop-tarts" help with the run of the show making sure that everything is where it needs to be. Sound () On a technical standpoint, this involves executing sound and microphones for all the productions. On an artistic level, there is concept, selection and recording of sound effects and music that enhances every show. |
